Costumes

Costumes will be sent home with your dancer next week, please be on the lookout for them. They should remain sealed in their plastic bags until the day of the show. Do not bring your costumes to Tech Rehearsal on 5/20. They should wear their dance blacks and bring any dance shoes (Ballet slippers, Jazz shoes, Hip Hop sneakers, etc)

Attendance

It is vital that dancers attend ALL classes next week as that is the final rehearsal before the performance, please prioritize them being present in class.

COVID policies for ALL dancers:

Cabrillo Crocker requires proof of full vaccination or negative PCR test within 48 hours of the event OR a negative at-home/rapid/antigen test within 24 hours of the event.

  • Vaccinated dancers: Please email us a photo of your dancer’s vax card ASAP.
  • Unvaccinated dancers: Please email us your test result by 5/21 at 9AM.
PCR test results must be within 48 hours of the Showcase, or negative at-home/rapid/antigen test within 24 hours.
  • Dancers will be masked for the performances and in the backstage areas.

We have limited supplies of at-home/rapid/antigen tests we will give to dancers who have neither sent in their vax card or provided a negative test result.

COVID policies for ALL audience members:

  • Cabrillo Crocker staff will check proof of vaccination or negative test prior to entry for the audience. Proof of full vaccination or negative PCR test within 48 hours of the Showcase or negative at-home/ rapid/ antigen test within 24 hours of the event will be required for entry.
  • Please arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to showtime to allow time for this process. Doors will be open up to 1 hour prior to showtime and we highly recommend arriving 1 hour before to minimize a delayed start time due to audience check-ins.
  • Audiences must wear masks (no bandanas, valved masks, or gaiters) inside the theater per Crocker COVID protocols.

Tech Day Call Times & Info

Tech Call & Release Times based on LEVEL:

  • Level 1 & 2A: 4:15-5:20pm
  • Hip Hop 1&2: 4:05-4:40pm
  • Level 2 & 2B: 4:55-6:05pm
  • Level 3: 6:05-7:05pm
  • Level 4: 3:25-4:30pm
  • Level 5: 6:40-7:55pm

What if me or my dancer is in multiple levels?
Plan to be there for the whole time they are called for. For example, Levels 1/2A is called from 4:15-5:20, but Hip Hop 1 & 2 students are called from 4:05-4:40 so your Ballet 1 dancer also in Hip Hop 1 will be at tech rehearsal from 4:05-5:20.

Where:
Cabrillo Crocker Theater (the entrance to the theater by the box office) at 6500 Perimeter Rd.

  • Walk your dancer all the way to our check in table in front of the theater, and pick them up there again at check out.
  • NO drop off or pick up at parking lot.
LEAVE for the theater EARLY! Traffic is heavy on Fridays from Santa Cruz to Aptos. You will be able to check your dancer in early, but don’t be late for your call time; we have a tight schedule to make sure every dancer is prepared and ready for their show.

What to wear:
Clothes you can dance in but NOT your Showcase costume/s.

What to bring:
A water bottle

What NOT to bring:
Phones, books, bags, games, backpacks, or food.

Show Day Call Times
& What to Bring on Show Day

CALL TIMES:

Levels 1, 2, 2A, 2B, & 3: 11AM

Levels 4 & 5: 10:30AM

What to bring on May 21st Showcase Day:

  • Dancers should all have a “dance bag” that includes any or all of the items listed below. All items should be clearly labeled. Dancers with 3 or more costume changes should bring a laundry basket for their belongings.
  • Dancers should arrive w/hair in a secure bun or otherwise attached to their head (braids, etc). If hair is too short to make a bun please have it pulled back out of their face. Bring a brush and bobby pins/hair ties for touch ups before the show.
  • Due to the bright stage lights and size of the theater we recommend that dancers wear stage makeup so they will not look washed out by the lights. This includes blush, eye liner and eye shadow. It is recommended that dancers arrive made up, but we will have staff backstage who will be able to help dancers apply makeup before the show if needed.
  • Costumes. Please double check that they have all the pieces of all of their costumes, as well as any personal items they may be required to wear as part of their costumes (leotards, leggings, etc.).
  • Warmers (sweatpants, hoodies, warm socks) to keep warm between dances.
  • Pack a large lunch plus snacks and a full water bottle. We will not be able to provide food or water. There is no access to a refrigerator or microwave.
  • Quiet games, playing cards and books are a great way to pass the time. We are not responsible for lost or stolen electronic items, we recommend you leave them at home. Bring at your own discretion/risk.
